Welcome to the video tutorial: How to Install WordPress Blog On Vultr Cloud VPS. In this video, I will show everything you need know relating to WordPress installation and managing cloud VPS using Ubuntu server.

First, I will teach how to create a new user and setup the user privilege. In the session, you will learn how to add new user and apply it to super modification mode using Linux command.

What’s more, you will learn how to secure your vps server by disable root login permission. Despite, I also show how to generate SSH key and connect to your cloud vps using private ssh key.
Finally, we ended up with how to disable password login and access to vps server using ssh key.

After finishing of setting up security of your cloud vps, you will learn the preparation for installing WordPress blog on Vultr cloud vps. Thus, I will show how to setup LAMP stack (Linux Apache, MySQL, and PHP) on your vultr cloud server.

Then we’re going to learn how to install PhpMyAdmin for manipulating your SQL database.

The last, you will learn how to connect Filezilla client to your vps server and manually install WordPress blog on Vultr vps. Also, I show to how point your domain to vultr vps server.

HOW TO INSTALL WORDPRESS BLOG ON VULTR VPS MANUALLY

STEP 1: How to Setup User Privilege on Ubuntu server.

+ Add new user and apply it to super modification mode

adduser username

usermod -aG sudo username

+ Disable root login permission

sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

PermitRootLogin no

sudo systemctl reload sshd

+ Setting ssh key connection

mkdir ~/.ssh

sudo chmod 700 ~/.ssh

sudo nano ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

sudo chmod 600 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

sudo systemctl reload sshd

STEP 2: How to Install LAMP Stack

+ How to Install Apache2 on Vultr

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install apache2

sudo apache2ctl configtest

sudo nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

ServerName xxx.xxx.xx.xxx (your server ip address)

sudo systemctl restart apache2

sudo apache2ctl configtest

+How to Install MySQL server

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install mysql-server

sudo mysql_secure_installation

+ How to Install PHP on vultr

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install php libapache2-mod-php php-mcrypt php-mysql

sudo nano /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/dir.conf

Move index.php to the beginning

sudo systemctl restart apache2

sudo systemctl status apache2

STEP 3: How to Install PhpMyAdmin on Vultr

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin apache2-utils

STEP 4: How to Install WordPress Blog on Vultr vps manually.

+ Setup www folder permission

sudo adduser username www-data

sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html

sudo chmod -R 774 /var/www/html

+ WordPress Blog Installation

Download WordPress Installation files from WordPress.org

Extra to desktop or anywhere which convenience

Rename wp-config-simple.php to wp-config.php

Open wp-config.php with notepad++ or other code editor

Go to phpmyadmin and login

Create a new database

Add new user to database and grant all privilege.

Remove root and other user from database

Back to wp-config.php

Input the database name, database username, and password.

Upload the first to /var/www/html
