The Republican-led House Intelligence Committee announced Monday that it is ending its probe into collusion between President Trump and Russia, saying they found “no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians.” The committee's 150-page draft report will be delivered to Democrats for review on Tuesday. The report will also contradict the intelligence community consensus that Russia’s interference had a “preference” towards Trump during the 2016 election. “We found perhaps some bad judgment, inappropriate meetings, inappropriate judgment in taking meetings — but only Tom Clancy could take this series of inadvertent contacts, meetings, whatever, and weave that into some sort of a spy thriller that could go out there,” Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX) told reporters. “We couldn’t establish the same conclusion that the CIA did that they specifically wanted to help Trump.” The report also includes a section on criminal leaks relating to the Trump dossier, but the committee lacked the evidence to make any criminal referrals to the Justice Department according to Conaway. The committee expects the Democrats to either make drastic changes, or issue their own report.
